This wine is a very good Cabernet. It is packaged in a tube. Yes, a tube. It is an innovative idea and the packaging is very environmentally responsible. Great for restaurants but I have one in my home. It holds 24 glasses so make sure you have friends over! I shot this in a restaurant in Santa Rosa, CA.

This is John Kinney working in his winery. His winery, Occasio, has a very clean and tidy tank room. I am a sucker for stainless steel equipment, labs and forklifts. I love the yin and yang (thanks FJ) of the winemakers in the vineyards with dirt, grapes, vines and then in the clean tank rooms, chemistry labs, barrels and bottling lines. It is a long way from grape to glass.

I love the smell of wine barrels in a cave. The color of the staining from the red wine gives the barrels a wonderful patina.

This morning I am posting an image of my guest photographer, Samuel Eubanks. My son. We went to Swamis Beach yesterday evening at sunset. Tide was low, weather beautiful. I handed him the camera and let him go. He shot some cool stuff. I tried to keep my opinions to myself and only gave a quick lesson in the relationship between f-stop and shutter speed. He obviously understood wide open and short focus.

If you haven’t noticed, I shoot a lot of wine bottles for wineries. It is my specialty. I can shoot other stuff like other products, people and buildings but this is my main market. I enjoy working with wineries, they are business people, artists, scientists, farmers. Some are eccentric artists, some are big corporations, some are retired people who have had a passion for wine and are now living their dream, some are land owners who love growing a crop and it happens to be grapes. The wine industry has a lot of interesting people.

We will get back to wine and beverage photography but I had to throw a Nascar pic from last week into the blog. This shot is of Audrina Patridge of ”The Hills” waving the green flag for the start of the Pepsi 500 at Fontana Raceway. I think she was shocked when all 43 Cars with 800 horse power roared past. Yeehaw!
