Salmon Appetizer

It is the time of year that my wife and I are always looking for a fun appetizer that we can test on our friends. I love appetizers with good flavor but the presentation is just as important to me (it’s a curse).  This appetizer was shot in the studio and I was working with my favorite, talented food stylist, Joanna. She is awesome at making food look beautiful, even if it is a simple dish. Happy Holidays and have fun being creative!

Merry Christmas!

This is a Santa Doll my wife has had since she was a child. It is actually kind of creepy but we put it out every year. Scares small children. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Poker Table in Casino

I shoot for casinos and this is probably the most calm shot you will see from a casino shoot. You know the regulars, winners jumping, slot machine handles being pulled, screaming, drinks in hand, etc. Photographing in Casinos is fun and challenging.  You definitely have to have permission and be escorted everywhere by security.

Pool in VIneyard. Napa Valley

I love this setting.  The owners of this property have the best of all worlds.  Vineyards, pool, in the Napa Valley. I also spied a vintage VW in the barn. My kind of people. They are very nice , down to earth people and seem to know how to live. We were lucky enough to use this location for a portrait and this is the test shot before putting the person in the shot.

Shot for a frame company.  Had fun lighting this one.  Shot on 4×5 Transparency Film.  No digital tricks. Warming gels on lights and filters on lens.

Stack of Chocolate Photo

Chocolate shot for a handcrafted chocolate company. Stacking chocolate without making finger prints or eating them as you shoot is difficult. I got paid with a check and lots of chocolate! Did I say chocolate enough???

Today, Laguna Beach Sunset

I was doing a photo shoot today in Laguna Beach. We were packing up equipment at the end of the day and I had to stop to take a few shots from the roof of the Hotel we were photographing.  I don’t usually shoot sunsets but this one was asking for it!! You can see Catalina Island in the distance. Ended the day with a nice touch.

Jewelry shot. Becky Kelso Rings

Becky Kelso makes incredible jewelry.  Here is a shot for advertising of some of her rings. This was shot with my 4×5 Large format digital system. The resolution in the original full size 133 MB Tiff file is perfect for jewelry.
